Questions people ask

What is the deadline to request a VA decision review?

A Higher-Level Review or Board Appeal must be filed within one year of the date on your decision letter. A Supplemental Claim can be filed any time, but filing within one year keeps your original effective date for back pay.

Can I add new evidence to a Higher-Level Review?

No. A Higher-Level Review looks only at the evidence VA already had. If you have new evidence, a Supplemental Claim or the Board's Evidence Submission or Hearing docket fits better.

How long do I have to appeal a Board decision to court?

You have 120 days from the date on the Board decision to file a Notice of Appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. You can also file a Supplemental Claim within one year instead.
