Welcome back, Brave community. You do not need to have everything figured out before taking your next step.
This week’s reads offer room to pause. They invite you to choose what fits your life now. That might mean asking a coverage question. It might mean leaving some breathing room in your day.
This week on the podcast
Air Force Veteran: Heather McLean's 20-Year Journey features Heather McLean’s path through military service and beyond.
Heather joined Air Force ROTC while figuring out how to pay for college. She started as a supply officer and built a twenty-year Air Force career.
The conversation explores her transition from military life. It also covers technology leadership and AI. Heather discusses building a company after military and corporate life.
As you listen, consider which parts of your service still guide you. You do not need to follow someone else’s path. Your next chapter can reflect what matters to you today.
Field Notes this week
These posts approach everyday choices from different angles. Start with the one that matches a question you have right now.
- VA Health Care and Other Insurance: How They Work Together Learn how VA health care works alongside other coverage. Review what to check before getting care outside VA.
- Leave Room Between Tasks: A Daily Routine That Can Bend Explore how small gaps between commitments can make a routine more flexible. One delay does not have to shape everything afterward.
- What to Keep From Service, and What You Can Set Down Try a sorting exercise about what you carry from service. Keep meaningful values while choosing how to live them now.
- You Can Belong Without Telling Your Whole Story Explore ways to join a Veteran community with clear boundaries. You can take part without sharing hard memories.
There is no need to tackle every topic at once. Give yourself permission to read what helps and return to the rest later.
One thing to do this weekend
Choose one place in your weekend schedule to leave a gap between tasks. Keep that space free instead of adding another chore.
If something runs late, let the gap absorb the delay. If nothing runs late, enjoy the pause.
Afterward, ask yourself whether that space made the day feel easier to manage. Use your answer when planning another day. The goal is a routine that can bend, not a perfect schedule.
